Hello everyone! Thank you to everyone who visited me last weekend! I'm back to share another snippet from RET, my most recent release. Well, our old dog is finally doing better. Though we can't do anything for her ear at this point. We just have to wait and hope it goes down on its own. And I finally got to visit my oldest child, who is away at college. But with all the stressors of the past few weeks, I've been gritting and grinding my teeth, which led to a visit to the dentist. Snippet setup: Last weekend's snippet showed Ret waking up with a horrible hangover, and no clear memory of what happened the night before. I'm skipping ahead a bit to where Ret is at the spaceport, seeing his family off. Enjoy! After I leaned in to hug my alpha father, he pulled me away from the others then held onto my shoulder and stared at me. “You smell different. Why?” My chest tightened. I had no idea what he was talking about. How could I smell different? “What do you mean?” “You smell like them.” He pointed to my brothers. “Like you’re mated. Anything you want to share about what you did last night?” **And a little more... I flexed my jaw. No way was I going to tell him I got punched by an omega. “I got drunk at the dorm last night. That’s it.” My father raised his eyebrows, his lips pursed. He didn’t believe me. “At the dorm? Not at the club? That doesn’t sound like you.” I sighed, not sure myself why I hadn’t stayed at the club. What I did remember from the night before seemed really foggy. “It wasn’t busy, and I wasn’t feeling it. So, I left.” My father pulled farther away, out of earshot of the rest of our family. “Listen. Sure, our kind got rid of the alpha-beta-omega hierarchy when we left Trid, but that doesn’t mean our basal instincts have completely left us. I know you plan to remain single for the rest of your life and simply have a good time with whomever you come across. But the alpha inside you may have other plans.” I scoffed. The alpha inside me was quite happy with my lifestyle. A new being to fuck whenever I needed a break from racing. Exactly as I wanted my life to be. Nothing could make me believe otherwise. My father chuckled. “I used to think exactly like you. And I was around your age when I met your father. We slept together, and then I went to leave like I did with everyone else before him. Only my alpha didn’t want me to leave. My alpha had picked my mate, and it took me a while to catch up.” RET Kaddim Brothers book three Ret Kaddim has the perfect life. He’s a space racer, the leader of the most popular team across the universe. Always planning, practicing, and racing, he has no time for a relationship, but finds plenty of willing partners who agree to his one-night-only rule. Because there is no way he wants to end up in a relationship and stuck with a family like his younger brothers. He’s having too much fun for that. Ilam Nairan always dreamed of becoming a space racer. And thanks to a chance encounter with a retired racer, he is now living that dream. Far away from the mated and pregnant omega life his parents wanted him to have, he loves everything about his life. It’s perfect. But one night can change everything. I wish I could say things have improved since I wrote my last post, but since then, there was a weapons threat at my youngest's school, and my dog took a turn for the worse. We're not sure what's going to happen with her over the week. So, yeah... Snippet setup: Last weekend's snippet showed things starting to heat up between Ret and Ilam. And heat up they did. But, morning comes. And what happened the next morning and the following day are very important to the story. So, here you go. This is in Ret's point of view. Enjoy! Ugh! I woke up on the couch with the worst headache, my mouth tacky and dry. Not the first time I’d woken like this. But my jaw, why was it sore? Sitting up, I remembered returning to have a shot with Ilam, yet everything after that was fuzzy. Obviously, I hadn’t stopped after one drink. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to block out the stream of sunlight shining through the only window in our common room and onto my face. Wait, something happened last night. Had I tried to kiss Ilam? An image of his face directly in front of mine kept flashing through my mind. **And a little more for your reading pleasure... Definitely close enough to kiss. But had I really? I rubbed my jaw, trying to remember. Is that why it hurt so bad? Nah! It had to be a dream. I would never do such a thing. And I’d probably slept wrong. Completely understandable if the empty bottles on the table were any indication of how much I’d had to drink. Slowly pushing to my feet, I shuffled over to the fridge for a tabrue. I desperately needed to get rid of this grogginess before meeting my family. We’d agreed to get together for one more meal before my parents, Vawn, and his family returned to Orez. The first bottle of the hangover cure didn’t help. My head still pounded and my joints remained stiff. RET Kaddim Brothers book three Ret Kaddim has the perfect life. Hello everyone! Thank you to everyone who visited me last weekend! I'm back to share another snippet from RET, my most recent release. I usually schedule these posts at the beginning of the week, and between the time I scheduled last weekend's post, and the day it actually posted, so much happened. My oldest child is at college, and they got sick with one of the many viruses going around (not covid though.) It was so hard for me to not go there and take care of them. Then my dog got an aural hematoma and being too old for surgery, we have to treat her other ways, which includes her wearing a head wrap so she can't shake her ears. If that wasn't bad enough, my computer crashed on the Friday, and no amount of help can get it out of the endless loop of failing to try to fix itself. So, I am currently waiting on a new computer while using an older and much slower one. Luckily, I saved my most important things. I lost some promo pictures, but I can reupload the majority of them. And my oldest child is now feeling much better. Still working on my old pup, but we're getting there. Snippet setup: Last weekend's snippet showed Ret getting closer to Ilam and vowing to always protect him. I'm continuing from right after that moment. Enjoy! Frozen in his soft gaze, I thought he was going to rest our foreheads together. Yet, when he leaned closer, I felt the press of his lips to mine. No fantasy I’d ever had of him could have prepared me for this moment. I wanted to pull away. Probably should have. But the fantasy of being held by him was still running through my mind. His lips weren’t soft but firm as they plied my own. He knew what he was doing, taking control and pulling me quickly under his spell. I couldn’t help but want more, drawn under by the sudden rush of need. **And some more for your reading pleasure... Moving his hands away from my neck, he trailed his fingers down my spine before cupping my ass. Then he was over me, pushing me back to lie on the couch. A situation I’d imagined more times than I would ever admit. Gripping his biceps, I struggled to catch my breath, his attention back on my neck. I couldn’t help the moan that slipped out as he traced his tongue across an extremely sensitive spot under my ear. Stars, this felt wrong but so right at the same time. “You smell divine,” Ret whispered. “You’ve always smelled good to me. I tried to ignore it. Tried for so long. But I can’t anymore.” RET Kaddim Brothers book three Ret Kaddim has the perfect life. He’s a space racer, the leader of the most popular team across the universe.
