My first release of the year for the past two years has been a MM MPreg Shifter Romance that was part of a multi-author series. The same thing happened this year, as I added another book to my Shifter Towers series while keeping it within the theme of the Love Sync Firefighters multi-author series. So, you get a story that is mostly set in the metropolis of Saramto about a sexy dragon shifter who is also a firefighter. Blaze in the City is available at Amazon and in Kindle Unlimited. Enjoy!

I left my old life to escape expectations, seeking a place where I can choose my own path, a place where I can belong.

In my small town, every dragon shifter knows their place. Find your mate. Claim them. Build your nest. When I learned my fiancé had been sharing more than promises with half the town, I broke things off. I left behind the gossip, the disappointment, and the life everyone thought I should want.

Saramto is my fresh start.

At Fire Hall 347, I find purpose again. I protect the city. I train hard. I serve my community. The humans of Saramto are fascinated by the dragon in their midst, but fascination isn’t the same as belonging. And every omega who approaches me makes my dragon restless…but not in the right way.

Until Ladon.

He’s a dragon shifter. An omega. Unclaimed.

The moment my dragon scents him, I know.

He’s mine.

Ladon is sharp, stubborn, and far too tempting for my peace of mind. He’s also raising a young son who looks at firefighters like we’re heroes. I’m not looking to build a family. I’m not ready to trust again. But my dragon doesn’t care about my fears and plans. He wants the omega. He wants this instant family. He wants the future I ran from.

Fate brought me to Saramto.

It brought me to my mate.

Now, I have to decide if I’m brave enough to claim what’s always been meant to be mine.

Blaze in the City is an MM mpreg shifter romance featuring a firefighter alpha dragon shifter who moves from a toxic small town to find the life he longs for in the big city, the single father omega who catches his attention thanks to a little help from Fate, his little boy who dreams of becoming a firefighter and steals the entire station’s hearts, true love, fated mates, nesting, meggs, adorable babies, and a guaranteed happy ever ending. Blaze in the City is the tenth book in USA Today bestselling author Jessica E. Subject’s sweet with building heat stand-alone Shifter Towers books and part of the Love Sync Firefighters shared world series.

March 2026 Reads...

Below are the books I read in March along with my thoughts on them. I'm not doing any formal reading challenges this year, but I am continuing to read diversely. Though this month may not seem like it. I read a book that had been on my bookshelf for a while as well as a new release that I had been waiting for in a series that I enjoy. In April, I will be reading books by Autistic Authors since it's Autism Awareness / Acceptance Month, which is something that is very close to my heart.

PROJECT HAIL MARY by Andy Weir

I enjoyed Project Hail Mary even more than The Martian. Instead of one man trying to survive on a foreign planet, this story is about one man trying to figure out how to save Earth from a micro-organism from another galaxy. He is light-years away to solve the problem when he meets Rocky, an alien that looks like a five-legged giant spider made of rocks. The two of them are in the Tau Ceti system for the same reason, and work together to save both their planets. But they must learn each others language and culture to do so. When they do find a solution, it causes even more problems.

This is a wonderful story that combines multiple scientific fields, including social sciences to explain what is happening and why the characters do what they do, but it never feels like too much. There is a lot of suspense in the story, right up into the last chapter that kept the pages turning. I also found the scenes that go back in time, and shown as Ryland Grace retrieving a past memory, easy to follow and relevant to what was happening in the current time.

I really enjoyed Project Hail Mary and I look forward to watching the movie version soon!

PENDERGAST: THE BEGINNING by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

I've read several of the Pendergast novels by Preston & Child, so when I learned that an origin story was releasing, I wanted to read it. Especially after rereading Relic last year. In this novel, Pendergast joins the New Orleans Field Office as a probationary FBI agent under Special Agent Chambers. When the two of them are suspended for not doing an investigation by the rules, Pendergast looks deeper into similar cases that could be related. But where Chambers wants to find a simple explanation, Pendergast believes nothing is that simple and once again goes against the rules to entertain his hunch. In the end, the case is not so simple and even more gruesome than Pendergast believed.

I really enjoyed this insight into Pendergast's beginnings as an FBI agent. It reveals how his mind works—very different from the average mind iykyk—while also giving us other details of his life, some of which have been revealed in other books in the series. And the epilogue is from Relic, so it's a smooth transition for those who haven't read it.

I do wonder if there will be a book written from an even earlier time in Pendergast's life, specifically his and Proctor's time with Ghost Company.
